The Baratza Sette 30 is the base model in the Baratza Sette series. After eight years of development, the Sette family of coffee grinders were highly anticipated when they were released in 2017, quickly winning awards and accolades from espressolovers worldwide. This impressive mill family has a long list of innovative design features. The coffee is ground from the container directly through the grinders and dispensed immediately with minimal retention of only half a gram. Instead of the inner grinder, it is the outer grinder that spins, a revolutionary change that results in twice as much grinding surface and extremely fast grinding.

Functions and Performance

Baratza's proprietary gearbox and powerful high-rpm motor work together to minimize heat while maximizing efficiency and output. How fast is it then, you ask? Well, depending on the setting, the Sette 30 grinds out 3.5 to 5.5 grams per second, which is twice as fast as the Vario. Impressive, right? We noticed that the Sette mills are a little noisy compared to Baratza's other mills due to the open design, but their high speed more than makes up for some noise in our opinion.

The entire Sette family shares the same durable 40mm steel grinder (the Sette 30 has plastic housings for the grinders, while the 270 models have steel housings); and all can be fitted with Baratza's BG grinds, which are less sharp and produce fewer fines, making them perfect for rougher brewing methods. The S1 grinders are designed to grind to espresso or medium coarse brewing methods such as AeroPress or Hario V60; to grind for rougher brewing methods, you can quickly change them in thirty seconds to drip coffee, pour-over or whatever you prefer. Why you need to get a Sette 30

Using the Sette 30 is as intuitive as it gets. You can change up to 31 different grinds by turning the adjustment dial, giving you a wide range of grind sizes from 230 to 950 microns. Write down your favorite settings to easily and reliably reproduce results. To suit different brewing methods, the portaholder sticks can be adjusted and changed to hold the included container of 160 grams of ground coffee beans; and you can easily change beans by turning the plastic plug and removing the container. The Sette 30 allows you to program a preset by time, which dispenses the specified amount with an accuracy of 1/10 second.
