Swerl was born from a shared dream during Beatrix and Daniel's time in New Zealand, where they were both inspired by a vibrant and inclusive coffee culture. Back in Sweden, they started small – first in a coffee cart, then in a classic 1970s Mercedes bus. This traveling roaster inspired both the name and the philosophy behind Swerl: movement, curiosity, and closeness to people.
With Beatrix's experience as a sommelier and Daniel's technical attention to detail, the roastery quickly took shape. The vision was clear: to roast coffee with heart and precision, and to create something of their own – for real.
Today, Swerl is an established roastery with a clear voice in Swedish specialty coffee. In 2023, it gained international recognition when it was named one of the world's 100 best roasteries by Roastful – a milestone that confirms it is possible to make a difference with small means, as long as the will is genuine.
