How to look after your R58
An E61 dual boiler machine is backflushed daily with water and weekly with cleaning detergent, and the group gasket is replaced about once a year. The brew boiler holds the right temperature via PID, so there is no need for a cooling flush. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Rocket R58
Rocket specifies 15–18 minutes before the machine is fully warmed up. Leave the portafilter in the group in the meantime.
With ECO mode on, the machine switches off 90 minutes after the last brew. The setting is in the remote control.
Rocket does not recommend descaling. Use soft water and choose tank or plumbed-in in the remote control settings.

- Purge and wipe the steam wand after every use
- Backflush with water and a blind basket
- Rinse the portafilter and basket, empty the drip tray

- Backflush with Cafetto EVO
- Soak the portafilters and baskets
- Steam tip in milk system cleaner
- Brush the group gasket

- Wash the water tank
- Change the water in the brew boiler and steam boiler as described in the manual
- Soak the shower screen and dispersion plate

- Replace the group gasket and shower screen
- Lubricate the cam
- Replace the tank filter (every 2–3 months)
- Replace the cartridge if plumbed in (according to capacity)

Water and filters
The right water protects your machine
The target is 2–4 °dH. Do not use distilled water; the machine needs minerals for the level sensor to work.
Can be plumbed in
Your R58 has a rotary pump and can be connected directly to the mains water supply. We recommend BWT Bestmax with an installation kit.
