Plumbed-in connection and BWT Bestmax
Oct 03, 2026
Machines with a rotary pump, for example the Rocket Bicocca, R Nine One, R58, Giotto and Mozzafiato R, the Profitec Drive and all commercial machines, can be connected directly to the mains water supply. You no longer have to fill the tank and the water quality is more consistent.
What you need
- A machine that supports a plumbed-in connection (see the model's resource page).
- A cold water outlet with a shut-off valve close to the machine. Inlet pressure 1–4 bar; at higher pressure you need a pressure regulator.
- A filter, we recommend BWT Bestmax Premium, with an installation kit (Bestmax Flex 1 installation kit).
- A drain for the drip tray if the machine has one (most commercial machines).
- We recommend installation by a plumber or technician.
Choose the right size
| Filter | Suitable for |
|---|---|
| BWT Bestmax Premium S | Home machine, 1 group |
| BWT Bestmax Premium V | Home machine with limited space (vertical) |
| BWT Bestmax Premium M | Office, 1–2 groups |
| BWT Bestmax Premium XL | Café, 2–3 groups and high consumption |
Set the bypass according to your water hardness. Measure it first with a BWT water test. With a BWT Aquameter you can see how much water has passed through the filter.
Changing the cartridge
- Shut off the water supply to the filter and switch off the machine.
- Twist the old cartridge out of the filter head.
- Insert the new cartridge and turn it until it locks.
- Open the water supply and flush the new filter as instructed (at least a few litres) before you reconnect the machine.
- Reset the Aquameter if you have one.
Replace the cartridge according to its capacity for your water hardness, but at least every 12 months.
From tank to plumbed-in
On Rocket R models and the Profitec Drive, for example, you select the water source with a switch or a setting on the machine. Read the section on water connection in the manual for your model before you switch over.
