Maintenance
How to look after your R Nine One
A dual boiler without an E61 group, such as the Rocket R Nine One and Bicocca or the Profitec Drive, Ride and Pro 300, is backflushed regularly and does best with the right water. The temperature is controlled by PID, so there is no need for a cooling flush. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Rocket R Nine One
Rocket specifies a 20–25 minute warm-up. Programme automatic start on the display so the machine is hot when you want to brew.
Rocket does not recommend descaling the machine. Use soft, filtered water to avoid limescale.
You choose the water source, tank or plumbed-in, under the water source settings in the display menu.

Upgrades
A bottomless portafilter shows you instantly if your coffee is channelling. A spring-loaded tamper, a distribution tool and a precision basket give you more even extraction, shot after shot.

Water and filters
The right water protects your machine
The target is 2–4 °dH. Do not use distilled water; the machine needs minerals for the level sensor to work.
Can be plumbed in
Your R Nine One has a rotary pump and can be connected directly to the mains water supply. We recommend BWT Bestmax with an installation kit.
