Maintenance

How to look after your RIDE

A dual boiler without an E61 group, such as the Rocket R Nine One and Bicocca or the Profitec Drive, Ride and Pro 300, is backflushed regularly and does best with the right water. The temperature is controlled by PID, so there is no need for a cooling flush. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.

Good to know about the Profitec RIDE

Warm-up 12–13 minutes

With Fast Heating activated, the machine is ready after about 12–13 minutes.

Switch off the steam boiler

If you only brew espresso, you can switch off the steam boiler in the menu or via the shortcut function.

Soft water

Profitec recommends fresh, soft drinking water of no more than 4 °dH.

  1. Every day
    • Purge and wipe the steam wand after every use
    • Backflush with water and a blind basket
    • Rinse the portafilter and basket, empty the drip tray
  2. Every week
    • Backflush with Cafetto EVO or when the display reminds you
    • Soak the portafilters and baskets
    • Steam tip in milk system cleaner
    • Brush the group gasket
  3. Every month
    • Wash the water tank
    • Change the water in the boiler as described in the manual
    • Soak the shower screen
  4. Every 6–12 months
    • Replace the group gasket and shower screen
    • Replace the tank filter (every 2–3 months)
    • Replace the cartridge if plumbed in (according to capacity)

Water and filters

The right water protects your machine

You should not normally descale a dual boiler yourself. Rocket and Profitec advise against descaling it yourself, and a scaled-up machine should be taken to a workshop. Protect the boilers with the right water from the start: measure the hardness and use a filter in the tank, or BWT Bestmax if the machine is plumbed in.
The target is 2–4 °dH. Do not use distilled water; the machine needs minerals for the level sensor to work.

Water tank

The RIDE runs from a water tank. Use an in-tank filter and replace it every 2–3 months.
