Maintenance
How to look after your Pro 800
A lever machine, such as the Profitec Pro 800, ACS Vesuvius Evo Leva or Elektra Microcasa a Leva, is not backflushed with a blind basket. It does best with daily cleaning, the right water, and gaskets and piston seals that are replaced and lubricated in good time. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Profitec Pro 800
Profitec specifies about 40 minutes depending on room temperature. ECO mode switches off the machine after 90 minutes by default.
The lever group must never be cleaned with a blind basket. Wipe the group with a damp cloth and a brush once it has cooled down.
Lift the lever a little and release it slowly, and do not remove the portafilter until the lever is back in the neutral position.
-
Every day
- Knock out the puck, rinse the basket and wipe around the group gasket
- Wipe and purge the steam wand after every use
- Wash the portafilter, baskets and drip tray
-
Every week
- Brush the group gasket and shower screen while the machine is cool
- Steam tip in milk system cleaner
- Soak the baskets and portafilter (not the handle)
-
Every month
- Wash the water tank
- Check for leaks at the piston rod and group
- Measure the water hardness if you change water source
-
Every 6–12 months
- Replace the group gasket and piston seals when needed
- Lubricate the piston seals during servicing
- Descale as described in the manual, replace the tank filter every 2–3 months

Upgrades
A bottomless portafilter shows you instantly if your coffee is channelling. A spring-loaded tamper, a distribution tool and a precision basket give you more even extraction, shot after shot.

Water and filters
The right water protects your machine
The target is 2–4 °dH. Use a filter in the tank, or BWT Bestmax if the machine is plumbed in. Do not use distilled water.
Can be plumbed in
Your Pro 800 has a rotary pump and can be connected directly to the mains water supply. We recommend BWT Bestmax with an installation kit.
