Maintenance

How to look after your Lever Microcasa

A lever machine, such as the Profitec Pro 800, ACS Vesuvius Evo Leva or Elektra Microcasa a Leva, is not backflushed with a blind basket. It does best with daily cleaning, the right water, and gaskets and piston seals that are replaced and lubricated in good time. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.

Good to know about the Elektra Lever Microcasa

Fill the boiler three-quarters full

Fill the boiler to about 3/4 with cold drinking water by lifting the lid and loosening the safety valve.

Release the steam before refilling

Open the steam valve and wait until all the steam has escaped before you open the boiler.

Rinse the filters and portafilter

Rinse the filters and portafilter in hot water to remove coffee oil deposits.

  1. Every day
    • Knock out the puck, rinse the basket and wipe around the group gasket
    • Wipe and purge the steam wand after every use
    • Wash the portafilter, baskets and drip tray
  2. Every week
    • Brush the group gasket and shower screen while the machine is cool
    • Steam tip in milk system cleaner
    • Soak the baskets and portafilter (not the handle)
  3. Every month
    • Wash the water tank
    • Check for leaks at the piston rod and group
    • Measure the water hardness if you change water source
  4. Every 6–12 months
    • Replace the group gasket and piston seals when needed
    • Lubricate the piston seals during servicing
    • Descale as described in the manual, replace the tank filter every 2–3 months

Water and filters

The right water protects your machine

The best protection for a lever machine is the right water. Only descale as described in the manual for your model: La Pavoni specifies 2–3 times a year, while for ACS the interval depends on hardness and use. Follow the manual and contact us if you are unsure.
The target is 2–4 °dH. Use a filter in the tank, or BWT Bestmax if the machine is plumbed in. Do not use distilled water.
