How to look after your Mine Pure
A heat exchanger machine without an E61 group, such as the Profitec Pro 400 or Stone Mine, needs a cooling flush before brewing, regular backflushing if it has a three-way valve and a new group gasket about once a year. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Stone Espresso Mine Pure
The group head has its own electric heating element, so Stone states that the machine is ready for coffee after about 10 minutes.
Stone advises against descaling because the descaler can cause corrosion. Use filtered water (7–16 °dH) and have an authorised Stone workshop descale it if needed.
Stone recommends backflushing the group head daily and a more thorough clean with espresso cleaning detergent once a week.
-
Every day
- Purge and wipe the steam wand after every use
- Backflush with water and a blind basket (if the machine has a three-way valve)
- Rinse the portafilter and basket, empty the drip tray
-
Every week
- Backflush with Cafetto EVO
- Soak the portafilters and baskets
- Steam tip in milk system cleaner
- Brush the group gasket
-
Every month
- Wash the water tank
- Change the water in the boiler
- Soak the shower screen
-
Every 6–12 months
- Replace the group gasket and shower screen
- Check the valve seals
- Replace the tank filter (every 2–3 months)

Upgrades
A bottomless portafilter shows you instantly if your coffee is channelling. A spring-loaded tamper, a distribution tool and a precision basket give you more even extraction, shot after shot.
Water and filters
The right water protects your machine
The target is 2–4 °dH, but follow the manual if the manufacturer specifies a different range. Do not use distilled water; the machine needs minerals for the level sensor to work.
Water tank
The Mine Pure runs from a water tank. Use an in-tank filter and replace it every 2–3 months.
