Maintenance

How to look after your Pop-up

A single boiler machine, such as the Profitec GO or the Quick Mill Silvano and Pippa, heats coffee and steam in the same boiler. It needs daily cleaning, backflushing if it has a three-way valve and descaling as described in the manual. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.

Good to know about the Quick Mill Pop-up

Set the temperature in the menu

Coffee temperature is set between 40 and 105 °C and steam temperature between 130 and 140 °C in the display menu.

Eco and standby

Eco and standby can be activated after 30, 60 or 90 minutes, or switched off with 0.

Descale with a non-toxic descaler

Quick Mill recommends regular descaling with a non-toxic descaler for espresso machines. Brush the group gasket every week.

  1. Every day
    • Purge and wipe the steam wand after every use
    • Rinse the portafilter and basket, empty the drip tray
    • Backflush with water (if the machine has a three-way valve)
  2. Every week
    • Backflush with Cafetto EVO (if the manual says so)
    • Soak the portafilters and baskets
    • Steam tip in milk system cleaner
    • Brush the group gasket
  3. Every month
    • Wash the water tank
    • Soak the shower screen
    • Measure the water hardness if you change water source
  4. Every 2–12 months
    • Descale as described in the manual (usually every 2–3 months)
    • Replace the tank filter (every 2–3 months)
    • Replace the group gasket and shower screen (every 6–12 months)

Water and filters

The right water protects your machine

A single boiler should be descaled as described in the manual, usually every 2–3 months depending on the water hardness and how much you use the machine. Use a descaler for espresso machines, such as Cafetto LOD. Exception: the Quick Mill Silvano should not be descaled by you; prevent limescale with soft water instead.
The target is 2–4 °dH. With soft water and a filter in the tank, the longer interval is enough. Do not use distilled water.
