Maintenance
How to look after your Carola
A single boiler machine, such as the Profitec GO or the Quick Mill Silvano and Pippa, heats coffee and steam in the same boiler. It needs daily cleaning, backflushing if it has a three-way valve and descaling as described in the manual. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Quick Mill Carola
The Carola is built purely for espresso and has no steam wand. The boiler temperature is controlled by a PID that you set on the display.
Quick Mill says you should fill the tank with soft, clean water and use a water softener if your tap water is hard.
-
Every day
- Purge and wipe the steam wand after every use
- Rinse the portafilter and basket, empty the drip tray
- Backflush with water (if the machine has a three-way valve)
-
Every week
- Backflush with Cafetto EVO (if the manual says so)
- Soak the portafilters and baskets
- Steam tip in milk system cleaner
- Brush the group gasket
-
Every month
- Wash the water tank
- Soak the shower screen
- Measure the water hardness if you change water source
-
Every 2–12 months
- Descale as described in the manual (usually every 2–3 months)
- Replace the tank filter (every 2–3 months)
- Replace the group gasket and shower screen (every 6–12 months)

Wear parts for Quick Mill Carola
Original parts that fit your model. Replace the group gasket and shower screen every 6–12 months. How to replace them
Upgrades
A bottomless portafilter shows you instantly if your coffee is channelling. A spring-loaded tamper, a distribution tool and a precision basket give you more even extraction, shot after shot.
Descaling
Water and filters
The right water protects your machine
The target is 2–4 °dH. With soft water and a filter in the tank, the longer interval is enough. Do not use distilled water.
Water tank
The Carola runs from a water tank. Use an in-tank filter and replace it every 2–3 months.
