Maintenance

How to look after your Microcasa Semi-Automatic

A heat exchanger machine without an E61 group, such as the Profitec Pro 400 or Stone Mine, needs a cooling flush before brewing, regular backflushing if it has a three-way valve and a new group gasket about once a year. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.

Good to know about the Elektra Microcasa Semi-Automatic

Fill the boiler with the water button

Fill the tank with cold drinking water and press the water button until the level indicator shows about 3/4.

Wait for the right pressure

The machine is ready when the pressure gauge shows working pressure and the light goes out. Open the steam valve briefly to release condensation.

Clean the steam wand straight away

Wipe and flush the steam wand straight after use so that milk does not burn onto it.

  1. Every day
    • Purge and wipe the steam wand after every use
    • Backflush with water and a blind basket (if the machine has a three-way valve)
    • Rinse the portafilter and basket, empty the drip tray
  2. Every week
    • Backflush with Cafetto EVO
    • Soak the portafilters and baskets
    • Steam tip in milk system cleaner
    • Brush the group gasket
  3. Every month
    • Wash the water tank
    • Change the water in the boiler
    • Soak the shower screen
  4. Every 6–12 months
    • Replace the group gasket and shower screen
    • Check the valve seals
    • Replace the tank filter (every 2–3 months)

Water and filters

The right water protects your machine

Limescale is the most common cause of repairs on heat exchanger machines, and they should not normally be descaled with chemicals. Profitec and Stone advise against descaling them yourself and refer you to a workshop. Protect the machine with the right water from the start: measure the hardness and use a filter in the tank.
The target is 2–4 °dH, but follow the manual if the manufacturer specifies a different range. Do not use distilled water; the machine needs minerals for the level sensor to work.
