Ascaso espresso machine with sleek barista feel

Ascaso espresso machine Dream One is a thoughtful choice for those who want a home espresso machine with clear personality, precise temperature control, and compact size. The retro-inspired design, signed by Marc Aranyó, is combined here with modern technology such as electronic PID control, insulated thermoblock, and a pressure gauge on the front. Ascaso Dream suits those who want to work hands-on with espresso, milk texturing, and flavor adjustment without taking up unnecessary counter space. A genuine plus is that you get the best results together with a good grinder and fresh coffee.

Main features

  • ✓   The machine uses an electronically controlled thermoblock heating system that keeps the brewing temperature stable (approx. ±1.5 °C). This is more precise than a simple mechanical thermostat and provides better temperature stability than traditional on/off control.
  • No full PID control:
  • Unlike the PID version, Dream One does not have a digital display with advanced, menu-based PID control and fine-tuning in 1 °C increments. Instead, it uses a simpler internal electronic temperature regulation (sometimes described as PID-like, but not as advanced or user-programmable as a true PID controller).
  • ✓  Insulated aluminum thermoblock with stainless steel water path for fast heating and reduced scale buildup
  • ✓  Cool-touch steam wand in 10 mm stainless steel for continuous steam and manual milk frothing
  • ✓  Adjustable Overpressure valve, pressure gauge, and backflush cleaning for more control over extraction
  • ✓  Active cup warmer and illuminated water tank visible from outside make Ascaso Dream One easy to use daily

Care instructions

Always clean and maintain the machine when it is cooled down and unplugged. Never immerse the machine in water. The exterior is cleaned with a soft cloth; for the outer casing, you can use 96° alcohol or a cleaner intended for stainless steel. The drip tray should be removed and cleaned regularly.

Wipe the steam wand immediately after use with a damp cloth. For internal cleaning, let water circulate through the wand and gently clear the opening with a toothpick or paperclip. If the machine will not be used for an extended period, the water tank should be emptied. Filters, drip tray, and tank can be washed in the upper part of the dishwasher or rinsed thoroughly by hand and dried with a soft cloth.

The dispersion head should be cleaned with warm water and neutral soap after about 80–100 espressos. For internal cleaning and descaling, Ascaso Coffee Washer V.666 is recommended. Regular descaling extends the machine’s lifespan, and we also recommend using a scale filter in the water tank for better taste and fewer scale-related issues.

About the manufacturer

Ascaso has its roots in Barcelona and dates back to 1962, when J. Ascaso began manufacturing and distributing spare parts for espresso machines. Over time, the business evolved into its own machine line focused on quality, durability, innovation, and artisanal manufacturing. We especially appreciate that the brand is still associated with machines created for coffee enthusiasts, and that production highlights Barcelona as an important part of its identity.

If you want a compact but serious premium solution for espresso at home, this is a strong choice. Ascaso Dream One combines design, control, and daily user enjoyment in a way that lasts.

Compare espresso machines

The two machines, Ascaso Dream One and Quickmill Stretta espresso machine, both target beginners and are compact countertop models with Thermoblock for quick heating. Practical differences are that Ascaso offers a built-in Pressure gauge, OPV valve, and slightly higher power specifications as well as a 1.3 l water tank, while Quickmill heats up faster (specified 2 minutes), has a slightly larger water tank (1.8 l), lower weight, and longer warranty period. Both lack a Built-in grinder and smart features, and use a vibration pump and 58 mm portafilter — so the same brewing and frothing capabilities for everyday use.

Buying advice: choose Ascaso Dream One if you want visual control over pump pressure (Pressure gauge) and appreciate a robust feel; choose Quickmill Stretta if you prioritize quick heating, lighter machine, and longer warranty. Both are well suited for home use where you use ground coffee and want simple, reliable espresso brewing.
