How to look after your VS3 2nd gen
A single dose grinder with conical burrs, such as the Varia VS3 and VS4 or the Fellow Opus, should be blown out after every grind and correctly zeroed after cleaning. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Varia VS3 2nd gen
Turn the bean hopper clockwise past 0 to the tightest position and then anticlockwise back to 0. Never start the grinder in the tightest position, as this can damage the burrs.
Use the silicone bellows after every grind to blow remaining coffee out of the grinding chamber. Wipe the body with a damp, not wet, cloth.
Varia states a lifespan of around 150 kg of coffee for the burrs. Spray RDT on the beans in the dosing cup, never into the grinder.

Every day
- Blow out the grinding chamber with the bellows after every grind
- Brush out the spout and the dosing cup
- Weigh in and out to check retention
- Use RDT when there is static

- Grind cleaning pellets, for example Cafetto GC2
- Wash the dosing cup and lid by hand
- Wipe the grinder with a dry cloth

- Take apart and brush the burrs
- Brush the grinding chamber and the thread
- Find the zero point again

- Replace the burrs when the grind becomes uneven
- Calibrate after replacement
- Run in new burrs with cheaper beans
