How to look after your Smart Grinder Pro
A conical burr grinder, such as the Baratza Encore and Sette 30 or the Sage Smart Grinder Pro, is easy to look after: brush the spout, grind cleaning pellets regularly and occasionally lift out the ring burr and brush it. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Sage Smart Grinder Pro
Grind the grinder empty, remove the bean hopper and the upper burr and brush the burrs and the outlet clean. Do not wash any parts in the dishwasher.
Lift out the upper burr, detach the wire handle and move the burr one step coarser or finer. Refit it and lock it in place before trying a new extraction.
Once the grind time is set, hold down PROGRAM until the grinder beeps twice, and the time is saved for the selected number of cups.

- Brush out the spout
- Empty ground coffee from the grounds bin or grinder
- Wipe the grinder with a dry cloth

- Grind cleaning pellets, for example Cafetto GC2
- Empty the bean hopper and wash it by hand
- Check the dose with a scale

- Lift out the ring burr and brush the burrs
- Brush the grinding chamber and the spout
- Check that the scale is correct

- Replace the burrs when the grind becomes uneven
- Calibrate after replacement
- Run in new burrs with cheaper beans
