Maintenance
How to look after your Mignon Libra
A grind-by-weight grinder, such as the Eureka Mignon Libra, Atom W or Baratza Sette 270Wi and Forte, needs the same cleaning as other grinders, plus a clean fork and a scale that is calibrated when the weight drifts. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Eureka Mignon Libra
Calibration is only needed if the scale loses accuracy. Hold down the two buttons specified in the manual for about 7 seconds, tare the portafilter and follow the steps with a known test weight.
The dosing button is active for 10 seconds after the portafilter has been inserted. If the display shows FH, remove the portafilter and insert it again.
Wash the bean hopper at least once a week and adjust the grind with the motor running. Eureka specifies checking and, if necessary, replacing the burrs after 300 kg of coffee.
-
Every day
- Brush coffee off the fork and the scale
- Brush out the spout
- Wipe the grinder with a dry cloth
-
Every week
- Grind cleaning pellets, for example Cafetto GC2
- Empty the bean hopper and wash it by hand
- Check the weight with your own scale
-
Every month
- Open the grinder and brush the burrs
- Check the scale with a calibration weight
- Calibrate the scale if the weight drifts
-
After 300–500 kg
- Replace the burrs according to the manufacturer's kg figure
- Calibrate the zero point after replacement
- Run in new burrs with cheaper beans
