How to look after your Forte BG
A grind-by-weight grinder, such as the Eureka Mignon Libra, Atom W or Baratza Sette 270Wi and Forte, needs the same cleaning as other grinders, plus a clean fork and a scale that is calibrated when the weight drifts. Here is the schedule and the products we recommend.
Good to know about the Baratza Forte BG
If there is coffee in the grinder, the motor must be running when you change the grind setting. According to Baratza, this is important for the life of the grinder.
Hold preset buttons 1 and 2 while connecting the power, press manual mode so that CAL is shown and place a 200 g weight on the scale until PASS flashes. Unplug and plug back in to save.
The burrs must not be washed with water. The bean hopper and grounds bin are washed by hand, and everything else is cleaned with a brush.

Every day
- Brush coffee off the fork and the scale
- Brush out the spout
- Wipe the grinder with a dry cloth

- Grind cleaning pellets, for example Cafetto GC2
- Empty the bean hopper and wash it by hand
- Check the weight with your own scale

- Open the grinder and brush the burrs
- Check the scale with a calibration weight
- Calibrate the scale if the weight drifts

After 300–500 kg
- Replace the burrs according to the manufacturer's kg figure
- Calibrate the zero point after replacement
- Run in new burrs with cheaper beans
