Care Instructions
The glass carafe can be washed in the dishwasher once the wooden collar and leather strap have been removed. To reduce the risk of damage, we recommend placing the carafe so it does not hit other items in the machine. It can also be hand-washed with a brush designed for coffee makers. An honest tip: the wooden collar and leather strap make the look more beautiful, but they require a bit more care during cleaning than a completely handleless glass carafe.
Common Brewing Tips for All Sizes
For best results, we recommend rinsing the filter first with hot water. This warms the carafe while removing any paper taste. Feel free to weigh the coffee and grind it medium to coarse, place the brewer on a scale, and zero it before you start pouring. Then pour the water slowly in circular motions, starting in the center and working outward for even saturation of the coffee bed.
Chemex Paper Filters
For the 3-cup model, use half-moon shaped, pre-folded Chemex filters. The manufacturer’s current specification states compatibility with coffee maker filter paper of the CHEMEX Bonded FP-2 and FP-2N types, making it easy to choose the right filter for this model.
About the manufacturer
CHEMEX is behind one of the coffee world’s most recognizable brewers. The original was designed and patented in 1941 by Dr. Peter Schlumbohm, and the company is still family-owned and operating in Massachusetts. The focus has always been clear: to make really good coffee easier and more enjoyable to brew through well-designed brewers, filters, and glass products with long durability.
Choose Chemex Classic 3 cups if you want an elegant coffee drip brewer that delivers clear flavor, precision, and a brewing experience as thoughtful as the result in the cup.
