BWT's Bestmax Premium filter cartridge is an all-in-one water purification solution. Excellent for filtering water for hot beverages like coffee, espresso is Bestmax Premium a modular multi-stage filter that uses the patented BWT Mg2 +-technology. This unique feature mineralizes the filtered water with magnesium, a known flavor enhancer that can be lost when using other filtration methods.

Bestmax Premium uses a five-layer filtration process as described below:

• Particle pre-filter - Separation of coarse particles such as sand and rust.
• Activated carbon pre-filter - Elimination of oxidants, protection of the ion exchanger against aging.
• High-performance ion exchanger - Removal of hardening substances, adjustment of mineral balance.
• Activated carbon layer - Elimination of organic substances, chlorine, foreign odors, and foreign tastes.
• Particle fine filter - Separation of fine particles and suspended matter.

The Bestmax Premium filter also reduces scale build-up inside espresso machines and coffee systems, dramatically reducing the need for descaling. 

Filter Capacity

Depending on the hardness of the water, the total capacity of your filter varies. The capacities below are approximate for a filter used for a espresso machine.

• Max Capacity: 49.98 ppm / 7 °DTH (total hardness) At filter setting 3 the maximum capacity is 2570 liters
• Min Capacity: 178.5 ppm / 25+ °DTH (total hardness) At filter setting 1 the maximum capacity is 585 liters

Note: Regardless of the total amount of water run through the cartridge, BWT recommends that you replace your filter after a maximum of 12 months.
