Baratza Sette 30 is the base model in Baratza's Sette series. After eight years of development, the Sette family of coffee grinders was highly anticipated when they were released in 2017, and they quickly won awards and accolades from espresso lovers worldwide. This impressive grinder family has a long list of innovative design features. The coffee is ground from the container directly through the grinders and dispensed immediately with minimal retention of only half a gram. Instead of the inner grinder, it is the outer grinder that spins, a revolutionary change that results in twice the grinding surface and extremely fast Grind.

Features and Performance

Baratza's own gearbox and powerful high-speed motor work together to minimize heat while maximizing efficiency and results. How fast is it, you wonder? Well, depending on the setting, the Sette 30 grinds out 3.5 to 5.5 grams per second, which is twice as fast as the Vario. Impressive, right? We noticed that the Sette grinders are a bit noisy compared to Baratza's other grinders due to the open design, but their high speed more than compensates for a bit of noise in our opinion.

The entire Sette family shares the same durable 40 mm steel grinders (Sette 30 has a plastic housing for the grinders, while the 270 models have a steel housing); and all can be equipped with Baratza's BG grinders, which are less sharp and produce fewer fine particles, making them perfect for coarser brewing methods. The S1 grinders are designed to grind for espresso or medium-coarse brewing methods such as AeroPress or Hario V60; to grind for coarser brewing methods, you can quickly switch them in thirty seconds to drip coffee, pour-over or whatever you prefer. Using the Sette 30 is as intuitive as it gets. You can change up to 31 different grinding grades by turning the adjustment knob, giving you a wide range of grinding sizes from 230 to 950 micrometers. Write down your favorite settings to easily and reliably recreate results. To fit different brewing methods, the portaholder pins can be adjusted and changed to hold the included container with 160 grams of ground coffee beans; and you can easily switch beans by turning the plastic plug and removing the container. The Sette 30 allows you to program a preset by time, which doses the specified amount with an accuracy of 1/10 second.
