The Baratza Sette 30 is the base model in Baratza's Sette series. After eight years of development, the Sette family of coffee grinders was highly anticipated when released in 2017, quickly winning awards and praise from espresso lovers worldwide. This impressive grinder family has a long list of innovative design features. The coffee is ground from the hopper directly through the burrs and dispensed immediately with minimal retention of only half a gram. Instead of the inner burr, it is the outer burr that spins, a revolutionary change resulting in twice the grinding surface and extremely fast grinding.

Features and Performance

Baratza's own gearbox and powerful high-speed motor work together to minimize heat while maximizing efficiency and results. How fast is it, you wonder? Well, depending on the setting, the Sette 30 grinds out 3.5 to 5.5 grams per second, which is twice as fast as Vario. Impressive, right? We noticed that the Sette grinders are a bit noisy compared to Baratza's other grinders due to the open design, but their high speed more than makes up for a little noise in our opinion.

The entire Sette family shares the same durable 40 mm steel burrs (Sette 30 has plastic housings for the burrs, while the 270 models have steel housings); and all can be equipped with Baratza's BG burrs, which are less sharp and produce fewer fines, making them perfect for coarser brewing methods. The S1 burrs are designed to grind for espresso or medium-coarse brewing methods like AeroPress or Hario V60; to grind for coarser brewing methods you can quickly swap them in thirty seconds for drip coffee, pour-over, or whatever you prefer. Why you need to get a Sette 30

Using the Sette 30 is as intuitive as it gets. You can change up to 31 different grind sizes by turning the adjustment dial, giving you a wide range of grind sizes from 230 to 950 microns. Write down your favorite settings to easily and reliably reproduce results. To suit different brewing methods, the portaholder pins can be adjusted and changed to hold the included container with 160 grams of ground coffee; and you can easily switch beans by turning the plastic plug and removing the container. The Sette 30 allows you to program a time-based preset, which doses the specified amount with an accuracy of 1/10 second.
