The story behind Ismaja Coffee Indonesia - Whole Beans Light Roast for Filter Brewing 200g

This coffee is the result of long-term and sustainable work by Ade Yusup, who runs his farm entirely organically in West Java. With great focus on quality and microclimate, he has created a natural process that truly captures the region's unique soil and climate. The coffee is purchased directly through close relationships with the producer – a nano-lot that carries both origin, care, and depth of flavor.

Coffee's process

1. Origin & variety
The coffee comes from West Java in Indonesia, specifically from the village of Ciseupan in Ciwidey. It is grown entirely organically by Ade Yusup on his farm Ismaja Kopi Farm. The variety is called Sigara Utang – a high-yielding arabica type that thrives especially well in this high and fertile location.

2. Process
After handpicking, the berries undergo a natural drying process within their fruit pulp. This is done slowly under protection from rain and strong sun, which brings out sweet and tropical notes. The coffee is dried for 20–25 days until it reaches the optimal moisture level.

3. Roasting & brewing
The coffee is lightly roasted by Budha Kafferosteri in a Giesen W15, specially to highlight the fruity and tangy flavors when brewed with a filter. It is best brewed using pour over, Aeropress, or an electric drip coffee maker with a filter.
